Name origin
"I had never been particularly impressed with this mountain, until one day, when riding down Meadow Creek, I decided it should have a name, and dubbed it Harding. Like Harding, who, compared with some of our presidents, does not rate so high, so this mountain compared with the big ones is not so much; but nevertheless, it is a considerable chunk of a hill."
