DescriptionThe origin of Rattlesnake Mountain's name according to Mountains To Sound Greenway volume 12, number 2: "The name of the mountain may have resulted after road survey crews, including pioneer Arthur Denny, heard seed pods rattling in the wind. Indian guides may have told the surveyers about a 'Rattlesnake Mountain' that used to have rattlesnakes on it, according to the Friends of the Cedar River Watershed." Maps
