Description

This is one of my favorite places, I've been there many times. The west side of the mountain is a long, gentle slope leading to the summit. The east side of the mountain is steep and cliffy with a desert at the base. Some large, deep, impressive gorges run down the west side. Steens Mountain is mostly sagebrush and grass with alder in moist areas, it makes for excellent roaming because you can see around for miles.
