Name origin

"... John's proposal to 'name' this summit Tusk 'O Granite, to signify the way it rises like a tooth from the side of Granite Mountain. There was a nice bit of word play to this, since the alternative spelling, Tuscogranite, acacurately defines its location on a line between Granite's main summit and (Lower) Tuscohatchie Lake." - Jeff Howbert in the March 1995 issue of Pack & Paddle.
