Date: 2004/08/30 Trip type: hike USGS Quad: Snoqualmie Lake In Areas: Middle Fork Snoqualmie Drainage, Alpine Lakes Wilderness Aesthetic rating: 3/5 Trip ReportThe Green Ridge trail is steep most of the way up, parts are very steep (my achilles tendon felt so strained from the climbing that I canceled my trip on he following day). At around 3,300 feet the trail turns right, descends a little bit, crosses the start of a rock field, and for the rest of the way the trail skirts the bottom of the rock field. A piece of surveyor's tape fooled me into thinking the trail crosses the creek, but the trail never does cross the creek.CommentsIn the woods just south of the lake I ran across an old rusty sign that said "Joint Corner Purple Hope Claims #1&4". When I got home I checked this out and found that the sign marks this quartz mining operation: http://www.cascadescepters.com...I didn't expect to meet anyone on this trip, but there was a group of people camping on the far side of the lake when I got there and when I returned to the trailhead I ran into a father and son who were heading up to the lake. ReferencesDriving DirectionsTake exit 34 off of I-90. Go north on 468th Ave for about 0.4 miles. Go right onto SE Middle Fork Road. (At the intersection with Lake Dorothy Road I always take Lake Dorothy Road since it seems wider, Lake Dorothy Road joins with the Middle Fork Road before the Mailbox Peak trailhead.) Drive up the Middle Fork Road to the Taylor River bridge, set your odometer to zero at the bridge and continue up the Middle Fork Road for another 4.5 miles to the trailhead. The Green Ridge trailhead is before the Dingford Creek trailhead. The trailhead is a couple hundred feet before a large wash. There are a few small parking spots between the trailhead and the wash.
