Date: 2004/10/10 Trip type: scramble Special gear: pole or ice axe for balance on scree slope, helmet Elevation gain: approx. 3,410 feet (approx 1,039 meters) Round-trip distance: approx. 8 miles Total Time: 7 hours 34 minutes USGS Quads: Mount Stuart, Enchantment Lakes In Area: Teanaway Aesthetic rating: 4/5 Trip Organizer: The Mountaineers Scrambling Committee Trip ReportWe took trail 1391 to trail 1226.1 to the 5,600+ foot pass. From the pass we went NW up the talus slopes of Bill's Peak. We dislodged some rocks from this hillside that rolled a few hundred vertical feet before stopping. After getting to the top of the talus the route is tough to describe, so I'll avoid doing a rotton job and not try. The summit block was nice rock that had a walk-up route and also had some fun class 3 climbs. Views from the top were 360 °, especially impressive was the in-your-face view of the Stuart Range to the north. References
Driving DirectionsTake exit 85 off of I-90, go north a short distance to 970, take 970 east, go left onto the Teanaway River Road, fork right onto road 9737, go right onto Beverly Creek Road (road 112) immediately before crossing Beverly Creek.
