Sobieski Mountain via SE slopes
We started at the Foss River Camp and headed SSW cross-country up to Road 6850. We crossed Anthracite Creek on the road and then ascended SW directly to the summit.

Highway 2 Corridor
Our trail head was on the shoulder of the Foss River Road just SW of the Foss River crossing.
We came across a Dodge pickup. I wonder if it will stay up there until spring.
Izzy seemed to enjoy the chest-deep powder.
A bit of steep, brushy wallowing through powder.
Mike broke trail the whole way, steadily gaining speed.
Near the summit Mike reached lift-off speed.
The summit of Sobieski Mountain. Matt estimated that Sobieski would have 400 feet of prominence if you counted the top of the radio tower as the summit.
On our way down we visited point 3364, which was labeled as a "lookout" on USGS but turned out to be another radio tower.
(I had a hard time keeping my camera lens dry.)
This was the last trip for my snowshoes.
